Ragnar is named after Ragnar Volarus, an Obsidian from the ice wastes of Jupiter’s moons in the Red Rising book series.

Once freed by Darrow, he becomes one of his fiercest allies and closest friends—a towering warrior driven not by bloodlust, but by honor, loyalty, and compassion.

Despite his fearsome strength, Ragnar is deeply spiritual and introspective. He wrestles with the lies that kept his people enslaved and seeks freedom not only for himself, but for all Obsidians. His quiet wisdom and moral clarity often ground Darrow amid chaos and ambition.
