Puppies

All puppies at Red Rising are raised in the home and exposed to all the normal (and purposefully excessive) household commotion and goings-on from day 1. Because we strive to raise well balanced and social working dogs who will one day be the best companions to their families, we provide early enrichment exercises following several different protocols.

First, puppies are raised using the Puppy Culture Method, which you can read about HERE.

Second, because we want puppies to be comfortable with all kinds of different situations and stimuli, we start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) at day 3. You can read more about the technique HERE.

Finally, the use of Early Scent Introduction (ESI) starts at day 3, too. It serves as a great way to train the puppies to use their noses, promotes brain development, and lays the foundation for the understanding and success in the games/sports we love most: hunt and scent work. Read more, HERE.

It should also be stated that puppies are introduced to a variety of different sounds, surfaces, birds, equipment, and of course, people. This ensures that puppies will have experienced a number of different encounters prior to departing for their new homes. Not only does this lay the foundation for a well socialized puppy, but it also helps start the puppy out on his/her course for participation in the sports and games we hope families will continue when they bring home their next best friend.

At 8 weeks, puppies undergo both structure and temperament evaluations to help determine the best family placements so that both puppy and human(s) have the best chance of the perfect fit from day 1. We follow the Dr. Jean Dodd’s vaccine protocol, which you can read HERE.

Meghan strives to make the transition from her home to the next one as seamless as possible. Puppy support is available 24/7, and she’s always available to help new families problem solve through challenges that will inevitably arise.

Show and performance homes are prioritized, but above all else, suitable homes and families are a non-negotiable. We require that all prospective puppy homes introduce themselves in person prior to any puppy leaving the nest.
